INTRODUCTION
It is mandatory for university graduates to register as Graduate Geologists if they wish to take up employment as a geologist. In accordance with Section 24, “a registered graduate geologist may take up employment as a geologist.” A registered Graduate Geologist shall also be entitled to describe or present themselves as a “geologist.”
Section 20(1) defines the qualifications for registration as a Graduate Geologist with the Board of Geologists. A person who holds qualifications approved by the Board shall be entitled, upon application, to be registered as a Graduate Geologist. Only a citizen or permanent resident of Malaysia may qualify for registration as specified under Section 20(4).
PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION
To become a registered Graduate Geologist, one must:
- Hold qualifications approved by the Board.
- Apply to the Board using the application form, Borang A, along with:
- Proof of payment for the processing fee (RM50.00).
- Certified copies of supporting documents as listed in Borang A.
Only complete applications with all supporting documentation will be processed and submitted to the Board for approval. Every application shall be decided upon by the Board within ninety days from the date of receipt.
