INTRODUCTION

A registered Foreign Geologist is a person registered under Section 22(2) of the Geologist Act 2008 [Act 689]. According to Sections 26(1) and 27(1), a registered Foreign Geologist may:

  • Practise, carry on business, or take up employment as a geologist.
  • Recover in any court any fee, charge, remuneration, or other consideration for geological services rendered.
  • Use the stamp as determined by the Board.
  • Prepare and submit geological reports or studies to any person or authority in Malaysia, relating to geological services in fields specified in the Second Schedule of the Act.

PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION

To become a registered Foreign Geologist, one must:

  1. Satisfy the Board that:
    • He/she possesses the necessary qualifications recognized for the practice of geology as a professional geologist in the country where they normally practice.
    • He/she possesses the necessary expertise.
  2. Apply to the Board using the application form, Form E, along with:
    • Proof of payment for the processing fee (RM50.00).
    • Certified copies of supporting documents as listed in Form E.

Only complete applications with all supporting documentation will be processed and submitted to the Board for approval. Every application shall be decided upon by the Board within ninety days from the date of receipt.
